Child Safety and Wellbeing Framework

We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive environment where children and young people are protected from harm. The safety of every child in our programs is our highest priority.

Our Commitment

Zero tolerance for child harm

Jindalee Fitness 24/7 upholds zero tolerance for child abuse, exploitation, grooming, bullying or discrimination. Safeguarding children is the shared responsibility of all management, staff, contractors, members and visitors.

  • The safety and wellbeing of children is paramount in every decision we make
  • Children have the right to feel safe and to be heard
  • We respect the cultural rights of all children and families, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
  • Child safety is embedded into leadership, operations and daily service delivery
  • We comply with Queensland Child Safe Standards and the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000

Who This Applies To

Our Child Safety & Wellbeing Framework applies across every program and service at Jindalee Fitness 24/7 where children and young people are present. Every person who enters our facility — whether as a staff member, contractor, volunteer, member or visitor — plays a role in keeping children safe.

Programs & Services Covered

Kids Club

Our Kids Club crèche service is a supervised environment where members’ children are cared for during visits to the gym. All Kids Club staff hold a current Blue Card and are trained in child safety, recognising indicators of harm, and responding to disclosures. Supervision ratios and environmental controls are actively maintained at all times.

FunFit Kids

FunFit Kids is our structured youth fitness program, designed to support the physical health and wellbeing of young people in a safe and encouraging environment. All instructors delivering FunFit Kids sessions are Blue Card holders and comply fully with our Safeguarding Code of Conduct.

13+ Gym Members

Young people aged 13 and over may access our general gym facilities as members. Personal trainers working with members aged 13–17 — whether in one-on-one or small group settings — are classified as child-facing roles. These trainers must hold a current Blue Card and adhere to all child safety expectations under this framework, including supervision standards, professional boundaries and mandatory reporting obligations.

Who Is Responsible

Child safety is not the responsibility of one person — it belongs to everyone.

  • Management and staff are responsible for implementing our framework, completing required training, holding valid Blue Cards where required, and reporting any concern immediately.
  • Contractors and personal trainers working with children must comply with this framework in full, including Blue Card requirements, online safety rules and professional boundaries.
  • Volunteers are subject to the same screening and conduct expectations as paid staff.
  • Members and visitors are expected to respect the safety of children in our facility and report any concerns to a staff member immediately.

Shannon Parish (Child Safety Officer) and owner Tracey Lucock hold overall accountability for implementing and maintaining this framework across all programs and services.

A Note for Families

If your child participates in any of our programs, we want you to know exactly what protections are in place. You are welcome to request a copy of our full Child Safety & Wellbeing Framework at any time, ask about the qualifications and screening status of the staff working with your child, or raise any concern through our Member Voice pathway. No concern is too small.

Reporting a Concern

How to raise a child safety concern

If you witness, suspect or are told about harm to a child, you do not need proof to report. Please act immediately — every concern matters.

01

Stay calm and listen

If a child discloses harm, remain calm and listen without leading questions. Reassure the child they are not in trouble.

02

Do not investigate

Do not confront the alleged person or attempt to investigate the claim yourself.

03

Report immediately

Report to our Child Safety Officer, Shannon Parish, immediately and no later than the same business day. If the concern involves the Child Safety Officer, contact owner Tracey Lucock directly.

04

External reporting

Where required, matters are referred to Queensland Police Service or the Department of Child Safety. Sexual offences must be reported to QPS under s229BB of the Criminal Code.

Safe Environments

How we keep children safe

We actively identify and manage risks in both physical and online environments to protect children at every point of their experience with us.

Supervised Spaces

Clear line-of-sight supervision is maintained wherever children are present. Isolated one-on-one situations between staff and children are actively avoided.

Blue Card Compliance

All staff in child-facing roles — including Kids Club, FunFit Kids and personal trainers working with under-18s — hold a current Blue Card. No person may commence child-related duties without verified clearance.

Online Safety

Staff may not privately message children or connect with them via personal social media accounts. All program communication is directed through parents and guardians using official Jindalee Fitness 24/7 channels only.

Photography Policy

Images of children are never shared without written parental consent. Staff may not photograph or record children for personal use.

Families & Community

Your role in keeping children safe

We welcome families as active partners in child safety. Open communication and feedback from children, families and staff continuously improves how we operate.
